UNOPS 100,000 HOUSING PROJECT KICKS OFF AT AMASAMAN IN GHANA

The 100,000 United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS) and Sustainable Housing Solutions (SHS) “affordable housing scheme” has kicked off in Amasaman Ghana. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has cut sod for work to commence on the construction of a landmark 6,500 houses.

Under the UNOPS/SHS project, large scale affordable environmentally friendly housing units are to be provided for every Ghanaian. The country is set to receive US $5.3bn to construct the units across the country. It will also create local jobs for thousands of people, boost the Ghanaian economy and help bridge the housing gap.

With its upward trending economy thanks to the discovery of oil in 2007 and the purchasing power provided by its rich gold reserves, Ghana is giving a full swing to the infrastructure and construction projects in the pipeline. International HVAC-R, Water Technology and Electricity companies aiming for a significant share in the giant projects to be realized and to be able to penetrate the West African Sub-Saharan market are meeting at the Ghana HVAC-R & Water Tech fair and Ghana Electricity Expo, which will be held in the capital Accra on 10th-12nd November!
